Translation Ideas


Hello beta testers and fellow Melon Patch, this is ChaoticNight07, your favorite aspiring indie developer. Recently, I have been told a proposal by a fellow member of the patch of ideas to translate the game. At first, I brushed it off as I thought to myself "Isn't it a bit too early to be thinking of this yet?" I have then realized maybe it's better early as it could give me a head start so I don't have to go back to square one once I finish development of Rinoa Quest. I am in possession of a translation engine plugin courtesy of SomeRandomDev. This was from when I visited a place during my trip called the "Taiwan Tech Arena", a place in Taipei where startups have collaborated and ideas are shared. I met with a family friend named Edward from the Arena, who was also very interested in learning more about my game and even had the privilege to test the beta in his workplace. As I was travelling in two different nations, in my case being the United States and Taiwan (I live in Canada), I also had to remember I am representing our favorite scambaiter Rinoa Poison and the Melon Patch being her community. Upon seeing the beta, I did also advise for now to him to familiarize himself with the scambaiter's lore she created, which inspired lots of remakes, musical parodies, and even poems too.

I really have to also give a shout-out to SomeRandomDev too. Though I will also advise one to not to let the Cheez-it review in the beginning to throw you off. After all, he does love to toss some humor in the mix. That aside, the shoutout to the engine is because I was able to find a way to translate the game without having to physically modify the project files directly and end up eating up lots of my hard drive space. The only difficult part is having to always remember to revert the language settings back to English every time I finish using the engine. So far, I have the following languages in prospect based on my interactions along with the fact that the Melon Patch is also quite multicultural from across the world we live in. Man, has globalization come a long way!

English - Base Language

French - Though I know some words and phrases, I do know a member and friends who are fluent in it.

Spanish

Japanese (I'm near fluent, though it does need work)

Simplified/Traditional Chinese - I know enough to get around. But Edward from the TTA may be volunteering to do so if he is okay with it.

But if anyone would like to translate/localize the game, I do have a proposal and it can be done in either one of the two methods:

#1: If you own a copy of RPG Maker MV, I can lend you the project files (It's top secret unless if I trust you). With it and the engine, do insert the words and translations, including localized terms in the target language. Just send me your email address if you are alright with it!

#2: Play through the betas and send me the translations of each of the messages and terminology in a Word or a text file. I will integrate it into the engine.

Based off of my proposal along with my team members' ideas, I feel like our favorite scambaiter will go even more global. I also look forward to seeing more ideas and seeing this game become much more impressive than it is currently! Anyways, this is ChaoticNight07, thank you for your interest in Rinoa Quest! And the later in temporary Japanese settings as I played around with it myself. As I mention earlier, do switch the settings back to English once I finish using the engine for the time being.
